Townsend Rotarian Pat Plantenburg, Townsend Tree Board Member and Montana Director of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (RMC-ISA), was selected as the 2017 Arborist of the Year at the Annual Conference of RMC-ISA in Denver on October 11.
Patrick was nominated for his service to urban forestry and his dedication to the RMC-ISA.
Wikipedia defines arboriculture as the cultivation, management, and strudy of individual trees, shrubs, vines and other perennial woody plants. It is both a proctice and a science. The science of aboriculture studies how these plants grow and respond to cultural practices and to their environment.
The mission of the RMC-ISA is to advance the professional practice of arboriculture in the Rocky Mountain Region. The chapter has over 800 members from new Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Patrick was also reelected to another two-year term on the Board of Directors. Partick is Past-Chair of the Montana Urban and Community Forestry Association. Patrick was nominated by three past RMC-ISA Presidents, the Chair of Montana Urban and Community Forestry Association, and the Coordinator of the MT Department of Natural Resource and Conservation Urband and Community Forestry Programs.
